“And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.” Psalm 9:10
Our congregation was challenged to do an Audit on GOD a few weeks ago. Wait! What?
That is what I thought when the preacher said that to us. I said to myself, “do an audit on GOD! What is he talking about? However, once he started to explain what he meant, it made perfect sense.
He encouraged us to read the WORD of GOD, all 66 books of the bible to learn the WORD for ourselves. Then he suggested we examine the WORD to see if GOD did what HE said HE would do. That is powerful!
As I thought about this, I absolutely loved the idea. Why? Well, one obvious reason, it gets us in the WORD more often.
Another reason is it motivates us to approach the WORD with a purpose. Let me tell you what I mean. How many of you pick up the bible, and have no clue where to start, or how to study it? It can be an overwhelming task without a plan.
So, what better way to approach it, than to do a bit of fact finding. Think about the many things in life we research to learn something new, to affirm what we already know, or to prove or disprove something we were told. And once we obtain the information we seek, we find comfort in moving forward as we are more informed.
We can approach the WORD of GOD the same way. We can study it to learn something new, affirm what we already know, or to prove or disprove something we were told.
We can reflect on our lives before our relationship with GOD and compare it to our lives now that we have a relationship with HIM. What does the bible say about a relationship with GOD? What does it say about obeying HIM? What does it say about praying, and answered prayers? What does it say about triumphs and victories? What does HE say about the blessings and rewards in simply believing in and trusting HIM? Did GOD do what HE said HE would? Are you blessed like HE said you would be?
I am sure you will find HE never lied. HE never wavered. HE never turned HIS back on us. In fact, HE continues to stand firm in the face of all we have done. Our lies, the way we waver, our sinning and backsliding, all of it! HE stands firm in loving and forgiving us, just like HE said HE would.
So go on, I dare you! Do your audit and let us see what you find out.
God bless you,
