Better Days Are Coming!

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of GOD, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

I mentioned to my husband the other day, that it feels like the world is under attack. It seems like every time we turn on the news, we hear about a mass shooting, or some other form of senseless murder. Perhaps it is my imagination, but it appears like we are at war with ourselves. These things are happening right here in our back yards. Just the other day, the FedEx center not too far from me came under attack by a mass shooter, resulting in the death of several unsuspecting souls.

Can you imagine getting up and heading to work, and the only thing on your mind, is the to-do list on your desk? Or maybe you are thinking about a long day of meetings. Or perhaps finishing a project you have been working on for weeks. If you are not working, consider kissing your loved one’s good-bye before they venture out into the world for the day. You may be wondering what you might cook for dinner, or how much housework you can get done before they get home. Maybe you are making plans for a much-needed vacation or weekend getaway.

Whatever situation you find yourself in, the last thing on your mind is the possibility that you or a loved one will never make it home. Sounds dark, doesn’t it? Consequently, this is the uncertainty that we are forced to reckon with, because we never know what will happen! Sadly, there are so many troubled souls out there who are driven by the desire to hurt others, many of whom, they do not know, but this does not matter. They are motivated by a hate that many of us will never fully understand.

This has weighed heavily on my heart lately, and I have been praying for better days!

I pray for the safety of my family and friends. I pray the hatred in the hearts of people will be removed and replaced with acceptance, I pray for guidance for the misguided, and love for the unloved. I pray for the social unrest to stop, because enough is enough. Things do not have to be like this.

The WORD instructs, not to be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to GOD. And this is what I do, and I believe that GOD will see us through to better days that are yet to come. We must remain encouraged and in constant prayer. We must remain hopeful because we serve a wonderful GOD who hears our cries. I believe in HIM!! I stand on HIS promises! Do not let your heart be troubled. Trust in the LORD your GOD, and trust in HIS son Jesus the Christ.

Keep the faith and be certain, better days are coming. As daunting as it may seem at times, especially when one of our babies are gunned down for no reason. Or when we realize that social injustice has become an accepted part of our culture. My GOD! BUT! BUT! A shift is coming, and when it comes, it will be swift and just!

Until then, when you feel overwhelmed, remember Proverbs 3:5-6 which reads, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”

To God be the Glory!

I would be remised if I did not share one of my favorite songs from Le’Andria Johnson song, “Better Days Are Coming”. This song is so encouraging, and I invite you to sing along with me. Come on, do not be shy :-)!

“Sometimes it feels cold
And you feel all alone
But hold on, better days are coming
It can be rough in this world
I know it ain’t easy but hang on in there
I know better days are coming
You seen good, you seen bad
You been hurt beyond sin
But just remember that better days
Better days are coming
Friends will leave you all by yourself
But don’t cry
‘Cause better days are coming, oh
Better days (better days)
Better days
Better days are coming
It’s only a season
Hang on in for you going through, yeah
But stay focused and never lose sight
I know people, people
They don’t see the hurt you feel inside
But keep on smiling ’cause everything will be alright
Better days (it’s here now)
Better days (I feel it)
Better days are coming (You’ve got to believe in better days)
Better days (for your mother and your father and your sister and your brother)
Better days
Better days are coming
Hey yeah
Better days are coming
Better days are coming your way soon”

Amen! To God be the Glory!

God bless you,

In his service,

Reverend Marshall
