Finding Comfort in Confusion

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love GOD, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28

Sometimes we become overwhelmed by all that is going on in our lives. We pray to GOD for something we want, and the process of waiting can be a bit confusing. We wonder to ourselves if things will ever happen? We wonder if all that we worked for will finally be realized? We wonder why it appears that everything that is happening is pushing us farther back from what we have asked GOD for. So very confusing!!!

I have learned the devil uses times like this to convince us that GOD is not listening. He convinces us that we are all alone, and we should take matters into our own hands. He convinces us, there is no way things will work themselves out in all this confusion. In other words, it appears the devil is in the details!! But he is not, GOD is!

I am here to tell you, that it is when you feel this way that you should pull closer to GOD. You should take comfort in the fact that it is in the midst of all this confusion, that GOD is working things out.

Just think about a time in your life when you were going through a change. Perhaps it was a job promotion, relocation, a new marriage, a break up, or anything that involved coming out of your comfort zone.

Think about the doors that may have closed in your face before the ones that opened which led to your dream job, or other opportunities. Think about the insecurities that flooded your mind when you thought about leaving the home you grew to love, friends you went to school with, people you worked with for years. Then think about all the wonderful things you have experienced since you pushed through those insecurities.

Think about all those naysayers in your ear about your new marriage or recent break up. Everyone had something to say, and if you did not dance to the beat of their drum, they faded away. They no longer had time for you because now things were too complicated. What a mess! Now think about the great friendships that developed during your godly marriage. Your new sisterhood with God-fearing women. Your new circle of friends who actually want to see you succeed, and not fail. Conversations that elevate you, not hold you back… Should I continue?

The point is, GOD knows what is in our hearts, and HE promises to deliver if we believe. Consequently, this does not mean we will have a smooth transition. This does not mean we will not experience some discomfort during the process. This does not mean we will not shed old habits, old places, and old people, yes we sometimes suffer loss during periods of transition.

See, the confusion you and I experience is what GOD considers the process. It is during this time we learn to trust in HIM. We learn to believe in HIM. We learn to grow in HIM. We learn what it means to be still, truly still as we listen to HIM. It is at this time we understand the true comfort in our confusion.

I pray this helps someone who is going through something right now. Things may seem bleak. Things may be confusing, and you may be at your wits end right now. Know that in the midst of all this confusion, GOD is busy. And if things are not right, then GOD is not done! So be still my faithful brothers and sisters, and trust in GOD.

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love GOD, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28

May God bless you,

In his service,

Minister Marshall
