Then There Were Four!

Then King Nebuchadnezzar leaped to his feet in amazement and asked his advisers, “Weren’t there three men that we tied up and threw into the fire?” They replied, “Certainly, Your Majesty.” He said, “Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.” Daniel 3:24-25

If you have ever recalled any story from the bible that speaks of the amazement of Christ, it is within the book Daniel. Some versions refer to the section as, “The Image of Gold and the Blazing Furnace.”

It is a wonderful story about three believers of Christ named Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. They stood up to King Nebuchadnezzar who wanted them to bow down and worship idols. The King threatened to throw them into the fire, and they said, “If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.” Daniel 3:17-18

Keeping his word, the King ordered the furnace to be heated seven times hotter than usual and ordered his soldiers to throw Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in. The soldiers were killed while throwing them into the flames. However, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were not harmed at all.

In fact, the WORD says, the “Then King Nebuchadnezzar leaped to his feet in amazement and asked his advisers, “Weren’t there three men that we tied up and threw into the fire?” They replied, “Certainly, Your Majesty.” He said, “Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.” Daniel 3:24-25

Christ was seen walking around the fire with them, protecting them from the flames, rewarding them for their obedience. Then HE brought them out of the fire.

If you were to look back over your life and recall all the situations you were in but made it through. You may have wondered how it happened, or how did you make it. I have heard people say, I should be dead right now. Or I should be in jail right now. They stand in amazement how far they have come. And today, their deliverance is their testimony.

You see family, we have all been through the fire, and those of us who stand here today can testify from the platforms of our own experiences that we made it out. However, this is no doing of our own. The whole time we were going through it, Christ was right there with us. HE held on to us to ensure that we made it through, and we did. We ought to give GLORY TO HIS NAME!

We must stand defiant against all that try to pull us away from our GOD, just like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego did. We should not be pressured to conform to what society wants us to conform to because we are children of the highest. GOD sacrificed HIS son so we can be delivered from our sins, and we were.

If you are in the fire now, pray your way out. Ask the LORD to pull you through, and HE will fulfill your needs. HE will stand in the fire with you, protect you from it, and escort you out of it. That is the GOD we serve!

I pray this short message encourages you today.

Oh, and before I go, just in case you do not know the story, this is how it ended:

Then Nebuchadnezzar said, “Praise be to the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who has sent his angel and rescued his servants! They trusted in him and defied the king’s command and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God. Therefore, I decree that the people of any nation or language who say anything against the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego be cut into pieces and their houses be turned into piles of rubble, for no other god can save in this way.” Daniel 3:28-29

Our actions have power! Carry yourself as a believer. Walk in that belief and stand firm in it. Unbelievers will notice, and by the GRACE of GOD, they will come running at some point asking what they can do to be saved. TO GOD BE THE GLORY!

God bless you,

In his service,
