“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16, NIV
This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine!
This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine!
This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine!
Let it Shine! Let it Shine! Let it Shine!
Can you imagine as a child humming this song and skipping down the street? Not a care in the world! You are happy, and everyone who knows you are happy for you, and you are happy for your friends. Everything is so simple. Imagine that!
Hold on to that thought! A beautiful one, right?
On Sunday I had the opportunity to reconnect with some people I have not seen for some time. It was such a blessing worshiping with them again. The love and warmth I received was amazing. I have seen these women of GOD grow in some wonderful ways. I shed a few tears as I held them in my arms, as it is evident what GOD is doing in their lives. I am so proud of my sisters!
It is sad, however, when sisters cannot celebrate each other as my sisters, and I did on Sunday. Each one of us are in different stages in our lives. We are all striving and growing continuously in Christ. It is not a race! It should be a personal journey between us and our GOD, unfortunately, this is not always the case!
We serve an awesome GOD and we need to be more like HIM. We do this by loving and honoring each other just as HE loves us. I felt such a connection this weekend, not only with my sisters on Sunday, with sisters I met on Saturday. We were connected by the GOD in us, which was a wonderful feeling. It was truly a blessing! This is what we need more of! I am hopeful one day; we will strip away that devil’s cloak that blocks the GOD in us. But until then, we must make a conscious effort to tear it away piece by piece.
As such, let us try the following: Today, when you encounter your brother and sister, let your light shine. Let the GOD in you shine! This means to smile and hold your head up high. Greet them with warmth and be sincere when you do it. Embrace the GOD in them. If they smile first, smile back. If they say something nice, meet that with a compliment of your own. Just be that beautiful Christian you are and show the world what being GOD like really means. This is what loving others like Christ loves us look like.
Shine, embrace, and shine some more!
If you start feeling down, start singing to yourself….
This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine!
This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine!
This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine!
Let it Shine! Let it Shine! Let it Shine!
I promise you will feel better, and you may make others feel better too!

Minister Marshall
